Your day starts the minute you hop out of bed and get a jumpstart on your day (sure, you may hit the snooze button a few times first.) Finding a morning routine that you look forward to and that is manageable is the most important thing to take away from this post, but we’ve pulled together some suggestions of successful morning habits to get your day started on the right foot.

01 // Move

Simple, yet effective: Move. Moving first thing in the morning sets a good intention for your day and starts your day off on the right foot by getting your energy, mind, and limbs moving. This “movement” doesn’t have to be a grueling Crossfit WOD, a 5-mile run, or any type of technical “workout.” Something as small as a 15-minute walk or an energizing yoga flow will do the trick!

02 // Hydrate

Drink up! Before fueling up with a good and healthy breakfast (don’t worry, we’ll get to that), drink 16oz of lemon water. Hydrating your body after hours of sleep is important, and the addition of lemon will help with flushing out toxins and kick-start the metabolism.

03 // Fuel Your Body

Okay, now it’s time to eat. Choose your breakfast carefully as this is the first fuel your body is getting for the day and you want to make sure its loaded with protein, fiber, and plenty of nutrients. Think whole grains (oatmeal, whole grain bread, etc.), healthy fats (peanut butter, coconut oil, avocado, etc.), and protein (nuts, greek yogurt, eggs, etc.). This will keep you full, focused, and ready to get after your day!

04 // Quiet Time

Meditate. Another way to look at this if the idea of meditation isn’t in your wheelhouse is to “prepare your mind.” This can be accomplished through the aforementioned ancient practice, journaling, praying, etc. The point being that this is a few minutes of your day that are completely dedicated to you and your (or lack thereof) thoughts.

05 // Establish a Routine

Have a non-negotiable. Commit to one thing, big or small, that you complete or accomplish each morning without fail. This can be as simple as making your bed or as complicated as doing a load of laundry. Whatever it is, stick to your commitment each morning to set a sense of accomplishment bright and early.

The best way to make these morning dreams come to life is to set your intention the night before and practice, practice, practice until these suggestions for healthy morning habits are your healthy morning habits.
